    It's ah-NAL-ra-pist!

  2. Most likely a copywriter for an advertising firm. That shit just comes natural to me and was suggested to me by an occupational survey I took my sophomore year in high school. I was on that track until I took a journalism course my junior year and I've been writing stories ever since - for more than half my life as a matter of fact and I'm only 33.

PhilaYank mentioned a detective. I actually had a police chief suggest I would make a good one because I kept digging up dirt on his crooked officers. But to be honest I could have never been a street cop, as hardened as I can be, I'm just not capable of being that hardened. That and I'd probably get my head blown off because I hesitated to shoot a kid who either has a comb or a gun in his hand.

Highway patrolman? Now that would have been awesome.

I had police officers telling me to go to grad school to do crime lab stuff. I told them I HATED math. They didn't care. They just kept pushing.

Honestly curious, and not trying to be demeaning at all... what type of educational background/experience do you need to get into human resources. That field seems interesting to me, but I had no idea what I'd need to do to go about getting into it.

Interviewing skills. I applied for an HR position when I was interviewing for my current job and they told me I was over-qualified for that particular position. The one thing they wanted was someone with good interviewing skills, though.. and the ability to be able to read people to know if they're lying to you.

So safe to say it has more to do with your personality than what your major/previous job was?

Yes. Journalists have an advantage because we know how to interview and read people well, but as far as former employment in the field, you're not going to be a manager right away, but you can get an HR job without any problem.

Collecting welfare and watching my degree wither on the vine.

I like to think if I had been raised in a more urban area (NYC-LA-Chicago) I would have a job in the retail/beauty field. It's something I really love, but just never had the exposure until well into adulthood.
