Grilled a sirloin. Sauteed mushrooms. Salad made with lettuce from the garden of the farm lady up the street who keeps horses. Ice tea.

Sushi at a new place that was quite good.

Spicy tuna roll that had little bits of tempura in it. Salmon roll with avocado that was covered with thin slices of salmon and salmon roe. And abalone sashimi, which I hadn't had before. It had a very good flavor, with a wild texture. Part of it was chewy, almost crunchy, and part was the texture of a raw clam.

We decided we're going back very soon.

The Olive Garden's Italian. Decent, as always, but I'm really just eating it to figure out everything in the Tuscan Garlic Chicken recipe so I can make it myself.

I'm wondering how many little Tuscans you can fit into it to serve 8, though.

I think you figure half a Tuscan per guest...

I made my black bean soup recipe tonight. It's idiot-proof, I swear:

    1 cup salsa
    2 cups chicken broth
2 15 oz. cans black beans, drained
    lime juice
sour cream and salsa to garnish

Simmer the salsa a few minutes, then add broth and beans and some lime juice (about a spoonful, it cuts the pasty taste of the beans). Simmer 15 minutes, then pour half the mixture in the blender. Add the pureed stuff back into the pot then serve with additional salsa and sour cream on top.

I ate at the ballpark for free tonight since I was covering a game.

I only accepted this assignment because Dr. J wasn't home to make dinner and I could make some quick cash (worked too, game was less than 2 hours).

I had a pulled pork sammich and fries. And two bottles of water.
