I had the Pick 5 last night. Had 3 roast beef, cheese sticks and drink.

Tonight, Italian beef from Portillo's with sweet peppers and cheese, cheese fries and a strawberry shake. Hadn't had Italian beef for a year or more, so it was excellent.

There's a huge Italian American Festival going on here. Reporter just got back with a bunch of canolis.

I'm eating my first canoli, ever. Unbelievably tasty.

Turkey and bacon, lettuce and 'maters, on wheat from Ralph's deli. Mmm, mmm, mmm ...

  8. Rudy's barbecue deep in the heart of East Texas.

Place burned down a couple of years ago and now it's back ... and better than ever.

We made a little homemade pizza type thing. Put down a can of pizza dough in a 9x13 baking dish, then a layer of mozzarella, then a layer of ground beef (we used ground turkey), pepperoni and tomato sauce, and bake it for 12 minutes. Add another layer of cheese and bake another five minutes. It's like a poor man's deep dish pizza.

For dessert, some Toll House mini brownie bites fresh out of the over and vanilla ice cream. Delicious.
