Saturday evening we had a shrimp and crawfish boil on the beach. Eight folks, in all. Drank a lot of beer.

Last night I grilled some chicken, made some baked beans and homemade mac and cheese. Tonight'll probably be grilled pork chops and the leftover beans and mac.

I knew I was forgetting to do something tonight. I guess I'll have an 11 p.m. meal of leftover spaghetti with meat sauce. I hate meat sauce. I might just skip it altogether and have a monster breakfast in eight hours.

Fired up the Weber midweek. Grilled chicken and corn and skewered shrimp this time.

I love the smell of charcoal in the morning.

I stuffed some pasta the other day with a sweet sausage and finally decided to do something with it. I had laid out a mahi filet to grill, but it was raining too hard. I made a spicy tomato cream sauce with brandy and tossed in the fish and pasta.

Washed it down with a Frei Brothers merlot.

    Damned good.
