Saturday: Abbondanza Italian Restaurant in Key West.

We got there at 4:50 p.m. The doors didn't open until 5 p.m. I watched several young guys gather and walk into a building adjacent to the restaurant. They carried in their chef's clothing and came out dressed for some serious kitchen duty. They copied the scene from Reservoir Dogs as they strutted down the road and into the back end of the restaurant.

An hour later, I walked out of the place with a smile on my face.

Dinner was chicken carnevalle, which featured chicken that was seared in what might have been a red curry sauce. It was a little spicy. The linguini balanced the heat, and thick-cut slices of proscuitto provided some salt. It was by far the best meal I've had since I dined in New Orleans some four years ago.

I washed it down with Corona and then had a mezmerizingly delicious slice of Key Lime pie. Great meal. They did forget to bring out our roasted garlic appetizer. But I didn't mind. We had bread to munch on.

The restaurant is a little off the primary tourist area. No ocean view. But it was well worth the short walk. I recommend it if you're ever in Key West.

I'd love to know of a place in Key West for lobster. I might try a steak and lobster house right next to Abbondanza. But I am hoping to find a place on the water.

I still haven't made my way over there yet. I guess I refuse to wait in line two hours for a burger and fries.

(Altho I guess its not really two hours anymore). Let me know how long the wait was.

There's hardly any wait when I go. You should try it once, it's good stuff.

Two Walker's shortbread cookies and thin-cut pork chops with Frank's sauce.

There's hardly any wait for you because you're probably in a state that has a bunch of them. This is the only one in this state right now (altho more are coming soon).

Oh and I have had it when I've been in other states. The flurries/blizzards (or whatever they call them) are good, but still not worth a two-hour wait.

That explains things. But one thing I always get with my Sonic Burger. Go with the Tots man. Go with the Tots.

My wife is out at her parents tonight, so I finally get to cook just for me tonight: Shake n' Bake chicken drumsticks, au gratin Rice-a-Roni and steamed green beans.

Hey, my girlfriend is somewhat of a vegetarian ... which pretty much makes me a vegetarian, too. But I do love the taste of a juicy burger, don't get me wrong. ;)
