Free turkey+cheese sandwich from HS football media day. Chowed down on one for lunch and pocketed another for dinner. Yippee

I have a little story for you.

I bought a little can of chipotles in adobo sauce about a year ago for a turkey recipe I never made. Last night, Adrian decided we should puree it and use it on our tacos. So she did the prep work. I strolled into the kitchen, and she was talking to me about the sauce. As a rule, I don't listen very well to sweet Adrian. I heard something about it being smokey. I didn't hear the rest.

So I made two tacos. One with a green taco sauce and one with the chipotle sauce, which was a thick, rich sauce. I don't know what caused the first taco to be hot. There were jalapenos in the beef, but it might have been the green sauce. In any case, it was pretty spicy. I had to have a glass of A&W.

Then I started on the second taco. After one bite, I sensed some heat. After two bites, my mouth was on fire. After three bites, I chugged a whole glass of root beer. After four bites, I started drinking the root beer out of the two-liter bottle. I paused for a good minute as my eyes started to water and my throat started to close. The stuff was burning all the way down the pipes. My lips were on fire. It was the hottest thing I've ever eaten, and I like spicy food.

So I decided I was still hungry. I took another bite. That was it. I nearly got sick. I became disoriented. I jumped up and chugged some more root beer as I carried my plate into the kitchen. Then I drank two swigs of milk right out of the jug. By now, I've had a half glass of milk and four glasses of root beer. So I'm stuffed. I can't eat or drink another bite or drop. But my mouth is still on fire.

I was dizzy by this point. I stumbled out to the car and found a pack of emergency cigarettes. I smoked two while I stood in the driveway and collected my senses. Then I went inside the house and plopped down on the couch. Adrian laughed. My stomach burned. My throat burned. My nose was running. It was not fun.

So, for the record, four tablespoons of adobo sauce is far too much for a single taco. In fact, one tablespoon is too much. A few drops will do it.
