    Can't stand sweet potatoes, either.

    For dinner, more celery sticks dipped in salsa and finished the chicken I cooked 2 days ago. Still hungry (just finished 75 minutes of cardio at the gym) so I might have to scavenge for a few more things to feed the beast that is my belly.

    There was a place in Bennington, Mickey's Pizza (now burned down; sad), where the greek owner Alex (now dead; sad) served authentic Greek food, including YEAR-ohs. There was a stretch of 6 months where I'd eat a chicken gyro everyday for lunch. I asked Alex for extra chicken and he'd always go, "Songbird, for youuuuuuu, I put extra cheeeken!" What a great guy.

    On the 2nd floor of the building was Alex's bar where all the newsroom folks were late-night regulars. So many nights I ponied up to the bar for scotch and sat next to Alex, a man in his late 50s early 60s, whose seat always was at the perpendicular corner of the bar. He drank whiskey after whiskey smoking his no-filter Camels and stared into space as if trying to figure out the meaning of life. Can't say I gleaned much wisdom from the old man, but he was a good man. And it was an old-school reporter's type of joint: dim-lit, dank, stuffy, smokey, and the locals each had a long, sorrowful story to tell iffin' you could understand their words through the dranken slurring.

    they're also good in pie form. if you like pumpkin pie, you'll like sweet potato pie.

    the sweet potatoes i'm grilling tonight are currently marinating in a little brown sugar, garlic, cayenne pepper, rosemary and olive oil. the flavors blend together nicely. you wouldn't eat this marinade separately but i've made it before and it's damn good.

    for you sweet potato haters, i'll grill some regular spuds if you're in the neighborhood and want to stop by. ;) ;D

    try sweet taters mashed with mango chutney or tropical salsa.
    That and some grilled chicken/salmon/shrimp skewers makes for a tasty meal.
    As for me, I'm thinking some kind of pasta. Just havent' decided what yet.

    Sounds like The Anchor in Detroit, which I recall as having the grilled cheese sandwiches second only to my mom's.

    I certainly enjoy a more traditional approach to sweet taters: butter, brown sugar, cinnamon.

    It's a side-dish, usually made with fruits and spices. It's of a relish consistency and originated in India, I think.

    Oops, I meant relish.

    It is often used as a topping/sauce. I've seen mango chutney used to top a lot of different foods.

    I just starting eating sweet potatoes in 2006. They're good baked and as french fries.
