Man, that girl was a bitch. (hope it's not a friend of mine).

If I knew you then, I'd have taken you to Keeneland like 19 times a season.

I only made 3 or 4 trips to Lexington a year to see her for a weekend at a time (the schedule of a sportswriter sucks for a long-distance relationship).
Doubt she's a friend of yours or else she would have introduced us as fellow sportswriters.

Marie Callender frozen entree: Swedish Meatballs! Looked good and I haven't had a problem with any Marie Callender dish to date.

    BTW, happy birthday SHOTTY!

It's shottie's birthday? There's no cake on his profile!

Well, if so: Happy one, shottastic.

Forgot to take food out of the freezer to defrost so I could cook myself something. So dinner tonight is a turkey sandwich from Subway.

Shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce*, baked grouper with lemon and butter, wild rice, roasted yellow squash, iced tea.

*actually just ketchup, horseradish, Tabasco and ground pepper, but wife likes a lot of horseradish, so storebought won't do.

Got a new BBQ for Christmas for my apartment. Tonight I'll be emulating a favorite meal of my first "mentor" (a great sportswriter and even better cook).

A tri tip, both sides covered with a paste-like mix of olive oil, french herbs and salt and pepper, slow-cooked fat side up for almost two hours on indirect heat. Mashed potatoes with garlic, half stick of butter, a splash of half and half and some blue cheese crumbles melted in. Hearts of romaine salad with caesar dressing. Strong and unsweetened homemade iced tea.

He did say the "birthday dinner" so I guessed it was indeed his birthday.
