The last two nights were pretty amazing. Mrs. t_b_f and I stayed at the Hermitage in Nashville and went to Maggiano's, where I had an amazing shrimp scampi and she a pretty awesome clam pasta, on Friday night. Last night, we ordered room service from the Capital Grille (probably Nashville's nicest place) in the hotel. She had some amazing scallops and a bed of pickled and sauteed beets, while I had a filet with mashed potatoes and sauteed carrots. It was a limited menu, but we had a really nice dinner in our room (complete with a small table and some candles and our favorite $20 bottle of wine -- as opposed to a $100 bottle) with a view of the Tennessee capitol.

    Very cool, romantic weekend.

Went with comfort food for dinner tonight because it was such a yucky weather day.

Grilled ham and cheese with chicken noodle soup from Campbells.

Pork tenderloin braised with sliced apples and maple syrup served with basmati rice and green beans. Pork and apples are a match made in heaven.

And we have a local shop, Sweet Olenka's whose homemade ice cream is to die for: pralines and cream with one of their quadruple chocolate brownies.

Some kind of chicken casserole Mrs. t_b_f cooked up. It tasted like shit, but I smiled and ate the hell out of it.

Crawfish and beer for lunch tomorrow, as it's a day off and we arranged daycare for the kiddos.

Saturday night looks like wings and beer with some friends and basketball.

The wife made a big bowl of smashed potatoes before leaving for a couple of days to visit the grandbaby. I will attack them roundly when I get home.

Made sloppy joes for the first time since before I was married (02). The wife has issues with "soggy bread" so it's nixed from our house. But, with a new job and I have moved here already...and she hasn't...so I get to make the menu!
