    Heineken Man --
My mom's turkey meatball recipe ;) (I saute in olive oil, but she's also baked them -- 375, 30-35 min depending on size of meatball, make sure you spray the cookie sheet with Pam or whatever)

    1 lb lean ground turkey
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1/4 cup onions, finely chopped
    1/4 cup parsley, chopped
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon pepper
    1/2 teaspoon oregano
    1 egg, beaten
    1/2 cup dry breadcrumbs

Mix all the ingredients and shape into 30 meatballs apprx. 1" across.
Spray a nonstick pan lightly with veggie oil.
Cook the meatballs for 5-6 minutes or until cooked through and nicely browned on the outside You will likely have to repeat the process for a second batch unless you have one big frypan!

Everytime I check into this thread 2 things happen.

One, I get very hungry. And two, I am again embarrased at the shallowness of my cooking knowledge. So many of you can really bring it in the kitchen. I am very impressed.

And spup...You changed your hair to a color "Doc likes"? I can't get my wife to believe me when I say "it looks nice straight". You're some secure woman. ;D

It's a color I've had before. I'm not completely innocent, though. He hates it pulled up and tells me it looks amazing down, but in the mornings, I always pull it up because I hate bedhead no matter what he tells me.

Now that sounds more like home. ;)

Dirk ... I've always been curious about that. I guess it's because I was always expected to know how to cook at home, what with two cooking women in my ear all the time. ;)

But what about it seems daunting? The measuring? Timing? Honestly, I'm flummoxed. I know some recipes are telling you to saute this and sift that, but usually you just throw stuff together...

    Shottie,

I can get by in the kitchen. Mom made sure I had a rudimentary knowledge, for which I thank her. And I am sure I can follow a recipe. But I don't feel all that secure in the kitchen. I hate it when I screw up and have to throw something out. (it's happened). People here talk about some pretty cool recipes and act like it's not a big deal to throw it together. For me, something like the burger pocket thingies (technical term), would be an all day sucker, and I would worry that it wasn't right the whole time.

Plus, I have been married for 20 years to an outstanding cook, so it's never been necessary.

I can grill, and barbecue, and keep a body alive if I need to.

But people who aren't scared of the kitchen impress me.

Once I figured out to take cookies and biscuits out of the oven 3-4 minutes before you think they're done, I licked the final frontier.

Late to this thread. Ran around late in the day in a last ditch effort to get something into the hands of someone. Actually sprinted the last half mile in dress shoes to someone's office. Then came home and promptly realized I never ate. I am exhausted. Quickest meal I could come up with... Couscous (with curry flavor) from a box, with some boiled frozen brussel sprouts thrown in. It was quick, and that was key--I had it on the plate in 10 minutes. Not sure what my calorie count for the day was, but that is the only food I ate, and I am actually full right now, and I'd guess that wasn't more than 700 calories total, probably less. Considering I ran off and strength-trained probably 1,000 calories this morning, and then worked off all my basal calories you work off without even trying, I reckon at this rate, I will weigh 32 pounds within three weeks. The question is will Webby give me the special dispensation to change my name to The Little Ragu?

Ragu -- I love couscous. I usually make sun-dried tomatoes couscous and roasted asparagus. So good.

Best single thing I've had in the last month were fried macaroni & cheese bites at the Bloomsburg Fair.

I will be dedicating my first angioplasty to them.

One of the chain places is advertising those now. I think it's TGIFridays.

So you may not have to wait for your next fair to get started on that bypass.
