    And interestingly enough, Clooney's character in "O Brother Where Art Thou?" was more or less a spot-on homage to Gable, right down to the pencil-thin mustache.

    Never saw his career coming when he was Roseanne's TV boss. One of the relatively few TV stars who make you forget they were TV stars when they go on to movies.

    I agree. Clooney is sort of devilish and charming. And he's a good actor. But give me Downey, Jr. or DiCaprio anytime. They are both incredible.

    I think the first time I saw him was in a pre-Roseanne TV movie called "Combat High" with Keith Gordon of "Christine" and "Back To School." But I remember my sister saying at the time that he was on "The Facts of Life," and I hadn't seen that show in years by that point.

    All I remember of that was it was an Elliott Gould show. Or am I imagining that?

    Yes, I think The Facts of Life was his first television job. I could be wrong.
