Should the Yanks struggle in the next two series (at Mets and vs. Red Sox), do Joe Torre and Brian C

For all of his success with the Yankees, Joe Torre knows losing baseball. His career record, prior to accepting the Yankees job was 894-1003.

Yankees lost again tonight, 3-2, to the Blue Jays. Thanks to the Tigers curbstomping the Devil Rays, 14-2, George Steinbrenner's $200 million team isn't in last place. It is, however, 14 1/2 games back of Boston in the A.L. East and eight back of Detroit in the Wild Card. To quote a wise man, "It's getting late early."

    And now, more fun!

Roger Clemens is scheduled to start Monday, against the White Sox. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6859896?MSNHPHMA&GT1=10035 None of the Yankees powers-that-be have any control over the situation; Clemens is making the decisions about when and where he pitches. It's already pissed off Kyle Farnsworth to the point that the Yankee reliever bitched about Clemens to writers. If one player feels that strongly, it's a good bet that others do as well.

I know where the Yankees can pick up some relievers cheap. Cashman needs to call Jim Hendry and ask for Bob Howry and Scott Eyre. Hell, maybe he'll even throw in Larry Rothschild. That'll fix everything.

Actually, the Yankees are in last (tied with the Devil Rays).

You're right. I meant to write, "Yankees lost again tonight, 3-2, to the Blue Jays. Thanks to the Tigers curbstomping the Devil Rays, 14-2, George Steinbrenner's $200 million team isn't in sole possession of last place in the A.L. East."

Maybe Jim Palmer can make another comeback attempt.

Hell, Ron Guidry is the Yankees pitching coach. Whitey Ford isn't doing much in Astoria. Maybe they can come out of retirement; Certainly, they can't be any worse than Proctor, Myers, Villone and Farnsworth.

I figured that I'd bump this up.

Even with the Yankees last two wins, they are still 39-41, 11 games back of Boston in the A.L. East and 7 1/2 back of Detroit in the Wild Card.

And Torre will walk away gracefully when his contract expires at the end of the season.

I also wonder if he'll become "sick" or need some "personal time" away from the team if things don't improve the first couple weeks after the break.

    He's not Mike Krzyzewski.

No chance wicked. Torre is there until his contract expires... technically the end of October but since there will be no October for the Yankees this year, he will announce his "retirement" within a week of the end of the season.

    Girardi replaces Torre as manager?
