This is sort of related to this thread, but you know what blows my mind?

A New York City-based team or a team that draws from New York (Giants, Jets, Islanders) hasn't won a championship in any sport since the Yankees won the 2000 World Series. It is the longest drought for the Big Apple in its modern sports history. The longest previous gap was from 1905-1921, but of course, that was before the NFL, NBA or NHL was around. Since World War II, NYC's longest drought was from 1962-1968.

The following cities have won championships since the '00 World Series:
    Baltimore
    Boston/Foxborough
    Tampa/St. Pete
    Pittsburgh
    Indianapolis
    Los Angeles
    Detroit
    San Antonio
    Miami
    Phoenix
    Anaheim, Calif.
    Chicago
    St. Louis
East Rutherford, N.J. (obviously near NYC, but the Devils aren't considered a NY team the way the Giants and Jets are)
    Raleigh, N.C.

To possibly be added in the next month ...
    Ottawa
    Salt Lake City (not likely)
    Cleveland (yeah right)

I don't know why, but I find that fascinating.

NYC ... the new Cleveland! (Hi Spnited!) :D

Have you heard the new slogan for NYC?

NYC: As many championships for our major professional sports teams as Milwaukee since 2001.

    :D :D :D :D :D

No, dickhead, I was referring to Damon. There are those who believe he exaggerates all his little aches and pains because he a fucking pussy.

And Torre did bench him for 2 days after he stood at the plate and looked at five pitches without ever moving the bat to make the last out in the other day in Chicago.
    He has fucking quit.

Hope George enjoys flushing another $37 million down the drain for the next 2.75 seasons.

Damon's played 145 or more games 11 straight years. He's not a pussy. If anything, he's breaking down.

As for not taking the bat off his shoulder, could the guy just be in a mental and physical slump?
