The idea is ranking them from the greatest likelihood, as we sit here today, to the least likelihood, as we sit here today, to make the Hall of Fame. Russell is a 22-year-old shortstop who hit 21 home runs and was ranked No. 3 in Baseball America's top 100 prospects before last season. Who would you put ahead of him, under that criteria?

And had a 6-RBI game in a World Series elimination game, and 9 RBIs in said World Series.

The list after the 2010 Giants won it all:

    1. Lincecum

Best example of why this is as idle as speculation gets is AL shortstops in the late 90s. A-Rod, Jeter, Garciaparra. It seemed a sure thing all would make the Hall. Nomar never will, and it'll take a serious attitude change towards PEDs (which I hope happens) for A-Rod to make it.

If you're a team with a long World Series drought, why wouldn't you hire him?

Kane is far from a lock, Hossa should be but you never know and Crawford won't come close.

It's difficult to imagine any scenario in which Kane is not a Hall of Famer.

His off ice troubles. The old hockey guard are worse than the BBWAA.

Cue the statheads screaming about putting so much value on RBI in 3...2...1...

What criteria? How scouts rated players before they arrived in the majors? Byron Buxton: HOF?

The criteria is what percentage chance each player has of eventually reaching Cooperstown.

Thank you for clarifying. Russell still has a lot to prove at the major league level, so I don't know about putting him ahead of Bryant.
