But the question that looms like the 800-pound gorilla at the back of the room is... how many people that think baseball's economic system is flawed want to see a salary cap like the NFL has. I don't wanna touch that with a 10-foot pole. Right now, relationship between players and management is at the warmest it's been in decades. If management proposed a salary cap, we'd be back to the Cold War era where every negotiation resulted in some sort of work stoppage.

There are ways to fix a system that has flaws without resorting to a salary cap to do it. Increase the revenue sharing? Change the formula? Make sure teams are spending that revenue sharing on what it's supposed to go towards?

I've read enough here to know that most people view the salary cap for what it is: Legislated mediocrity designed to make the cheap guys just as much money as those who actually try.

I respectfully disagree with you. I disrespectfully agree with Pube.

    Revenue sharing=OK.

Salary cap= No fucking way. Every division would be like the NL West.

I'd love to see a salary cap in baseball of 150 million for the 25 man roster. That way, you could keep your superstars, the Yankees could essentially still do what they do and then we can cry about how there is a salary cap but it's not fair because it's too high.

Which is exactly why >75% of the games in the NFL are somewhere in the unwatchable to barely watchable range. Living without a dish in an area where the Giants are on TV four or five games a year, more weeks than not, there's not an NFL game on TV I want to watch. Conversely, even putting the Mets aside, just about every set of baseball series (midweek and weekend) there are at least couple of series that are compelling to me. Part of it is that I love baseball more than I like football; but a lot of it has to do with the quality of the games.

European soccer has the best system, relegation and promotion. Your financial health is contingent on what you do on the field.

The NFL has never been better.

And seeing great teams such as the Patriots, knowing they have been superior despite a system that gives everyone a chance... that means so much more than seeing the Yankees and Red Sox each win 100 games... again....

    It's you're. Not your.

As in -- you're a douchenozzle. Not -- your idiocy knows no bounds.

First, you got hammered in this thread.

If you were a boxer, you would be Duk Koo Kim.

It also says a lot about my power and pull that three dozen of you people would bury your ability to be objective and intelligent and pick MLB... just to disagree with me.

I feel quite honored. Thank you.

I think that this is the first post in the discussion where you have come close to showing a single syllable of what I have written to be errant.

    Nice job.

Now, pick up your gun and call someone.
