My hometown has lots of statues other than the one of Mary Richards, including one of a sports journalist.

My family and I passed this on a road trip to California: the world's largest pistachio in Alamogordo, NM:

as we have delved into the realm of some non-human statuary, I would be remiss if I didn't bring up a Jacksonville landmark, Rex, The Beach Blvd. Dinosaur.

Initially part of a mini-golf course, the statue remained when the putt-putt place closed years ago. A new shopping center grew up around it and to this day Rex stands guard over Beach Blvd., and has become a beloved Southside landmark, because it is the only even semi-interesting thing about Southside.

It was loyal to both sides - loyal to the Confederacy and loyal to the Union. I had folks on both sides.

Does the one of Truett Cathy sitting on a bench in front of Truett's Grill count?

I don't live in Wisconsin, but in Verona they memorialize the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with nine holes of golf for $9.11.

There should be a statue of Truett Cathy the size of the Statue of Liberty somewhere, or at least put him on Stone Mountain. Love me some Chick-fil-A.

Truett Cathy at least deserves his own line of gay sex toys.

Several around town now, but this statue of the former Atlanta Constitution editor has been on Marietta Street since 1892.
