And without looking at the standings and rosters, I'm guessing a whole lot more teams need a 7-foot, 270-pound center than need a 6-9 forward.

Probably not, but he's NOT 6'10", that's one of thing that makes him more "physically impressive" than the guys who are, so what's your freaking point? Shaq and Robinson wouldn't have been the same if they were 6'10" either, and I'd have been a helluva lot better in HS if I'd been 7 feet tall. Who gives a shit about what they'd be if they were some hypothetical different size. What kind of argument is that? Zeke's right, boots, you need to give this thread up.

We'll end it like this. I'm not an Oden backer. I wish him well.

  4. Yeah, but the No. One pick in that draft was Hakeem Olajuwon. I think if Oden turns out to be as good as he was, your point is probably moot.

I was gonna say ... it wasn't like Sam Bowie was picked twice in that draft. That first guy ... he was OK.

Oden ain't the dream. He might be better than the dream was at the same point as a collegian, but he ain't the dream.

But he also ain't Bowie, and Durant Ain't Jordan.

true but I like Durant's upswing better. I just have a better feeling about him. I can't say why.

Tyranny of the talented, eh? I prescribe more faith.

I know it sounds terrifically goofy.

  11. Why is there more idealism in playing in the sewer that is bigtime college sports than in the NBA?
At least the paychecks there are above board.
