Well, it took awhile to get through nine pages here, but all I can add is ... I think Hoops might have set an SportsJournalists.com record for f-bombs in one post. I can't speak to the veracity of his comment, but I can speak to the hilarity of it -- especially at 2 a.m., after batting out two late-night stories following a desk shift. That was some high comedy, with apologies to blitz, if need be.

Ole Miss hires Houston Nutt. That didn't take long.

Names already being kicked around for Arkansas:

    Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville
    TCU coach Gary Patterson
    North Carolina coach Butch Davis
Tulsa offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn (WTF?)
    Oakland Raiders coach Lane Kiffin
    Boise State coach Chris Petersen
    Oklahoma defensive coordinator Brent Venables
    LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pellini

UNC just gave Davis an extension, so it's unlikely he's leaving Chapel Hill.

I read where they had agreed to it, but has he signed it yet? That makes a big difference.

The Petersen one would be ironic, considering that's where Nutt came to Fayetteville from. If Broyles were doing the hiring, I'd put him and Patterson at the head of the pack. Broyles liked to hire proven head coaches on the way up.

Kiffin is the son of former UA defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Hiring Malzahn would be laughable, but it would be a big FU right back at Nutt.

Tuberville and Davis have state ties as well. Whether UA can pony up a hefty buyout for either remains to be seen.

Are the Raiders firing Lane Kiffin?

He isn't leaving a HC job in the NFL, there are only 32 jobs, for a middle of the road SEC job.

Maybe not, but Broyles got Lou Holtz to leave a HC job in the NFL for a second-fiddle-to-Texas SWC job in 1977.

And it is the Raiders, mind you.

That's because Holtz sucked as the coach of the Jets and he knew it. He hated it.

Arkansas isn't exactly a glam job, even if it is SEC. Thus, no way in hell that Davis leaves UNC to go there. No way in hell does Tuberville go from Auburn to Arkansas. No way, at all, does Lane Kiffen leave the NFL to go to Bumblefuck, Arkansas.

Anyone who even tosses those names out there needs to heed the advice of Peyton Manning and get their head out of their ass.

Considering McFadden will be in the NFL next season and with Dick as QB, every team in the SEC has a good chance at beating Arkansas next season.

What about Mike Leach for the Arkansas job? I thought I heard that mentioned as a possiblity.
