Good point. Even on the UNC Web site it only says he's agreed to it.

This is from left field, but is there any truth to the rumor that Monte Kiffin is interested in returning to Lincoln? Kiffin was a Nebraska grad and was a candidate before Callahan was picked.

Isn't Kiffin almost as old as Osbourne?

It seems like it was ages ago that Kiffin was N.C. State's coach.

And Osbourne's 70? If you're gonna go the older-guy, less-long-term-certainty route, might as well dust off Tom and shove him back on the sidelines.

And again, like in basketball, Arkansas folks think their job is better than it is.

Looks like Bowden is staying put at Clemson. If he wants to, anyway.

Arkansas is a much better job than y'all are giving it credit for. In the SEC, it's only clearly behind only LSU, Georgia, Florida and maybe Tennessee, maybe Alabama (though you can argue that Arkansas is better than UT and Bama in many ways).

It's clearly a better job than Auburn, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky and South Carolina and Mississippi State.

Calling Arkansas a "bumblefuck" job is outdated thinking. Why is Fayetteville anymore bumblefuck than Starkville, Oxford, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Gainesville, Athens, Baton Rouge, etc.? It may have been true in 1985, but it's not true today. Do you people understand the corporate infrastructure and financial backing Arkansas has with Tyson and Wal Mart? The Northwest Arkansas area isn't cosmopolitan, but when you compare it to the other SEC cities (aside from Nashville and Lexington), there's way more there. And you can actually fly in there on real airplanes, direct from real places like New York!!!! Do you understand the advantage Arkansas has from a fan/booster/media perspective by being the only university in the state? From a recruiting standpoint, the state of Arkansas produces pretty good players, and it's the closest SEC outpost to Texas and Oklahoma.

I think Arkansas is the No. 5 or 6 job at worst in SEC football and the No. 2 job in basketball.

Probably the right thing to do. We've seen what happens when you fire a coach after a (potentially) 10-win season. Phillips won't repeat Nebraska's mistake, especially knowing that his football coach has absolutely owned South Carolina.

    outstanding post...

i'd put the uf, uga, lsu, bama and ut ahead of it as far as jobs, but that's about it. there is a ton of money at arkansas. facilities are constantly being upgraded. it's very close to oklahoma, texas and louisiana for recruiting purposes

and fayetteville is a good town. a really good town. i'd probably rank it only behind nashville and athens in the sec
