Yes, that's true. They tell me the servers we were on could support 100K hits in an hour, or something like that. I guess maybe we need a bigger pipe.

Is there a reason Hill has been at Fresno for so long? He seems like a pretty interesting guy (the type that could get boosters fired up) and has had prolonged success at Fresno for quite a while now -- but I never really hear his name pup up for other jobs.

Fresno State hasn't been nearly as good without all the Prop 48 guys.

That said, I like Pat Hill and think he would be a great hire for Wazzu or several other BCS programs.

Houston's Art Briles is taking the Baylor job.

  6. Hill is not quite as revered in Fresno as one might think. The fact of the matter is that Fresno has never won a WAC title under him. He threw his name out there for NFL stuff last year (Raiders) and there were some in Fresno that were hoping he would go.
I think he'll stay at Fresno until his youngest son (a freshman safety, I think) is done there and then he'll leave.

Can he take his roster with him?

It's all about the money for Briles. Supposedly a seven-year contract worth $1.8 million per season. He was reportedly making a mere $900,000 per season in Houston.

You had to bring up Crazy Jim Walden. :D The guy was a hoot when he came to Iowa St. from Wazzu. Too bad he couldn't get ISU to play better blindfolded.

Crazy Jim -- perhaps the worst radio color commentator in the history of broadcasting, but still beloved -- has been publicly lobbying for Paul Wulff at Wazzu.

Steve Spurrier meets with Duke AD Joe Alleva. on the Duke campus. He's only consulting, though. I doubt the Ole Ball Coach would again take controls of that sinking ship.</a>
