I'm rambling here with this idea: When UM was given permission to talk to Miles before the SEC title game, he wasn't going to talk to them until after the game was played. That's when the Herbie & Les to A.A. talk got going and Miles squashed that.

He may have signed that extended contract, but that clause is still in there for him to bolt if Michigan really wants him. That's why he picked up the phone on Thursday to listen. Had Michigan waited until after the game, the talks would have been more active.

Petrino resigns from Falcons and will take the Arkansas job.

Miles said the call was to give his thoughts on the UM coaching search, possible candidates etc. Nothing more, according to reports. What's the deal with Al Borges getting the heave at Auburn? He's helped make Tommy T a lot richer.

He also coached one of the worst offenses in the SEC the past two seasons. Auburn won a bunch of games, but only because its defense was so good.

Petrino in Arkansas means McFadden/Jones are goners.

I would have thought they'd be done anyway, at least McFadden whose stock can't get much higher.

Think of it more as cementing the decisions.
