Is Wanny in real trouble? My sense of the Pitt situation is they think they could be doing better, but also a lot worse, so he might get another year to get things straightened out. What about Robinson at Syracuse?

A few have brought up his name in connection with the Tech job, too. He's got the Georgia connection.

There's an entire web site devoted to getting him to go to Clemson.

You underestimate how much Clemson fans hate Tommy Bowden.

True, but they've been hating him for years now. The venom I heard spewed at him after Georgia beat Clemson in the opener in 2003, I think, was unbelievable. These were people on the field after the game as Bowden walked to the locker room.

That should be a slam-dunk for them. Like Tressell at Youngstown/OSU, Kelly has built an in-state program (Grand Valley) into a national power at a lower level, only in Kelly's case he actually went on to do something at a mid-level D1A program.

The notion that he's a job jumper is a non-factor, since that would be a pinnacle spot.

Unless the NFL, or one of the absolute elite (USC, Florida, Texas, maybe 3-4 others) came calling.

The job-jumper factor IMO is not that big a deal, because he did stay at Grand Valley 10-12 years, so he isn't totally adverse to staying someplace a while if he's happy. The moves to CMU and then Cincy were clear upgrades, as would be U-M if he made the leap, so he's not just jumping for the hell of it.

But still, a lot of thinking in and around U-M puts a huge value on stability. I just don't think they could get their minds around the kind of style Kelly likes to coach. It would be like going from Lawrence Welk to Frank Zappa.

Fact: Chuck Norris will coach every single college team next season to undefeated seasons. With all teams being undefeated, the BCS will be disbanded and a playoff system will be used.

True, but if they've been paying attention in Ann Arbor, they'll see that Frank Zappa is what has teams playing after the first of January. And Kelly knows more about winning at the end of the year that just about any coach not located in Alliance, Ohio.

Tim Tebow will coach all the openings from the Florida locker room between series.
