Ask Colorado and Washington what Ricky Boy did for their programs. Or check out what a great job he's done for the Baltimore Ravens offense. I'm sure plenty of Pac 10 coaches are hoping Rick gets the job.

Some observations on Neuheisel. I covered him as a player and an assistant coach at UCLA.
The big question is whether he has learned his lesson. He certainly is capable. His biggest problem is that he uses his advanced intellect to see what he can get away with. He tried to beat the system instead of using his brain power to make the system work better for him. There are a lot of people like that, people who are too smart for their own good. Maybe it comes from his legal background (he has a law degree).
One of the biggest mistakes UCLA and Terry Donahue made was not promoting Neuheisel to offensive coordinator. Everyone thought he was being groomed to replace Donahue. As a beat guy, I was stunned when that happened. Donahue fucked up and hired Bob Toledo instead, and Neuheisel was forced to leave in order to advance his position. He should have been the offensive coordinator and then the head coach when Donahue resigned. Toledo won a lot of games but made it a shady program. Dorrell cleaned up Toledo's mess, but didn't win enough games.

UCLA is out of its mind to even interview that Neuheisel. There is dirt, there is scum, there is shit, then there's ... hell I don't know. Whatever it is, Neiheisel is about 20 layers below shit. Goddamn buttfucking assmunching Nazi.

    Franchione to Smoo?

I'd hurt myself laughing if I didn't think he might actually make them decent.

Thanks for stopping by Dave Mahler </seattleinsidehumor>. OK, Neuheisel is nobody's idea of a saint, but what did he do to get this kind of rap? He's a total weasel, no question ... but he is hardly the NCAA's worst offender and in the current climate (Fran, Saban, Petrino, etc, etc) he isn't even close. The greater issue has to be that he is just not a very good coach. His teams' archs are predictable ... great skills guys but cannot play physically and end up lacking depth and physicality over time getting pushed around by everybody.

Maybe I was a little bit harsh. Having met the man, I found him to be a complete piece of shit. Nothing the man does or says seems the slightest bit sincere or honest. But maybe that's just the norm for college coaches these days.

Have also done some time around the guy and would agree that he is among the most disingenious people I have ever encountered ... and as you said, he is pretty typical of what the college game has become. I do believe the good guys are now outnumbered.

Reports up here say Mike Bellotti meeting with UCLA. He must really not want to go to El Paso. But if he thinks UO is going to pony up for more money after the team crapped its pants down the stretch, he might as well pack his bags.

Problem with spread option = you need two quarterbacks.

Even Tebow couldn't carry the load all season (see: Georgia).
