Who Will be the Next Coach at Notre Dame

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by YankeeFan, Nov 21, 2009.

  1. Yep. It'd be one thing if they were all coaching their asses off and couldn't get it done. The right guy can win there, and win big.

Because I also can't resist rubbernecking at really bad car wrecks I scanned the ND rivals.com messageboard last night expecting to see some of the finest fanboi batshit crazy posts in the history of the internet. I'm happy to report I was not in the least bit disappointed.

One guy even suggested they take a run at George Perles because they needed a disciplinarian as their head coach.

At that point I had to stop reading because I could hear my IQ dropping.

But Monte Kiffin already has a college coordinating job.

Both Tech and Clem were looking forward to this Saturday. Johnson's done a FABULOUS
    job at Tech.

  5. You must not have seen the "Lou Holtz as head coach, Weis as offensive coordinator/recruiting coordinator" thread.

I'm pretty sure that is a recruiting violation to sign an 11-year old, but perhaps there are different rules for Judeans, deities or both.

If I had stayed on there much longer I would have been too dumb to dress myself this morning.

Maybe he could get Ron Meeks to join him.

    Bull. Bull. Bull.

Paul Johnson has done a great job at Tech, there's no doubting that. But there's no way that Tech and Clemson were "overlooking" their biggest in-state rivals. That's a weak ass excuse. It's possible to come out and play terribly for no real reason at all.

Games meant nothing, compared to this week.
Denying it doesn't make the read wrong.

Hey, I hope they keep playing conf. championship games the week following
major rivalry games. Works for me.
    Devalues the regular season, though.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA.

    That is hysterical.

Fantasy levels remain FAR out of control.

Neither Knute, Frank or Ara are coming through that door . . . now, or in the foreseeable.

To get a huge name, you need to restore
the recruiting standards enjoyed by Holtz.

    Not holding my breath.

  12. For Christ's sake already, recruiting wasn't the problem, and hasn't been the problem. They get as many kids from the high graduation rates as they lose. Don't do three shitty coaches the favor of providing them an excuse. Weis, Willingham and Davie were all bad coaches. Weis coached two 9-3/10-2 teams to 6-6 records. That has absolutely nothing - nada - to do with "lowering the academic standards."

    Here's what Notre Dame "needs":

Someone who can coach the damned game. That's. It.

There are a million institutional advantages there that far, far, far outweigh the "academic standards" excuse.
