Who Will be the Next Coach at Notre Dame

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by YankeeFan, Nov 21, 2009.

  1. September hasn't been the problem under Weis.

    November has.

I checked out Parsegian's and Devine's track record when they were hired. Neither was at the pinnacle of their careers at the time of their hires. They'd had some success and had some failures.

  3. I've never heard of that site. It is not legitimate to my knowledge.

Hmm. After reading the article, I'm also questioning it. I guess we'll find out how legitimate of a site it is if they really do get the scoop on this. Pretty dodgy about their supposed source though.

If you are a "hot" coach like Kelly and Cincy comes at you with an 8 to 10 year extension, with auto-rollovers for each 7 win season, do you take that over a 5-year deal at Notre Dame?

Sweet choice - he and his family will be set for life no matter what.

They got focused on Ara real quick because he was the first guy ever to beat
Notre Dame four years in a row . . . with some of the best Northwestern teams
    since the '30s.

Kelly is the "hot" coach right now, but he's clearly not a big name like Stoops or Meyer. That said, Kelly should demand to be paid like Meyer or Stoops to take that job.

It will be a good hire if it happens. I'm guessing he'll find it a little harder to get kids into Notre Dame than he did at Cincy.

That reads like a story from The Onion

    I bet not much.

I suspect Kelly, Stoops or anybody else high on their wish list is gonna tell them going in, "if you really want to be in the mix for BCS championships, you are gonna have to give me a half-dozen academic 'exemptions" a year. If you don't want to do it, OK, but I don't want to hear anybody pissing and moaning if we go 9-3."

If you're going to ask for it, the time to do it is when they are trying to woo you. Once you sign, you can't ask any more -- you knew what you were getting into.

  11. Remember, though, nobody bitched when Weis went 9-3. It's the 3-9 and 6-6 seasons that are unacceptable, and that is perfectly reasonable.

Oh, please. The Onion has higher writing standards than that.

    Won't be Kirk Ferentz, apparently.
