Think it would be a helluva lot of fun to watch.

It was pathetic to watch Irish prancing all over the field dissing Hawaii last winter -- AFTER they built up a fat lead, of course. What a team of frontrunners.

Notre Dame made a lot of money off that game in San Antonio. Notre Dame might take a loss to play in some random bowl game, without a head coach. If there's a scenario to turn down a bowl game, this is it.

  3. I think if this was any other program turning down a potential bid, people wouldn't have an issue with it.

Central Michigan would beat their ass into the dirt.

Turning down a bowl is stupid. Most programs would kill for an extra month of practice.

Most programs also have head coaches. These players don't have a clue whether the schemes on both sides will look anything like what they're going to run during spring practices.

Notre Dame's done this before. It's not beneath them to turn down a bowl game. It a pride thing to them. Plus, the players took a vote on it. No Charlie, no trip to Detroit.

Coaches get bonuses for everything, in proportion to where they finish up.

Some of them even get bonuses if a certain percentage of players graduate. The players get the degree, and the coaches get the bucks:
