Good question. Word is still circulating about a possible merger of staffs. Yet, there are still a few hires being made.
As for Conlin, it appears nothing legally can be done. For the victims and their families, I know that has to be rough.

Just to clarify, the story does not indicate he begged for forgiveness when confronted. It says he cried and said he only touched the girl on the leg.

  4. I think he also allegedly wrote a 10-page apology letter to another family member.

    Found it:

I guess I should have made my question about the paper more specific.

Do they follow up on this? Do they write more stories? Do they dig deeper? Do they follow leads as far as the DR?

Or, having written this, does it simply end here?

More stories, as they merit, will follow.

I think you push other states to eliminate statutes of limitations for sex offenses.

That's not something I necessarily agree with, but that's probably where the story could go, if advocacy journalism is your thing.

My final word on the Hall business is this directly from the Hall, which couldn't be clearer:

Also, with regard to Drip and memory. I won't tell the story WT told, but I have separate significant issues from two sets of people -- two babysitters' sons, one relative -- from my childhood as well. And actually, these stories coming out are starting to help me figure the whole deal out.

I don't really think that people who do this suppress the memory completely, at least not generally (and no, I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist). I DO think they practice short-term denial, and I think they are compelled by awful mental forces to do things even against their own feelings about them, if that makes sense.

  9. I doubt it ends here.
I'm sure they are hoping more (recent) victims come forward.

And while Conlin can't be prosecuted he can sure as hell be sued.

True. The way the sentence was framed, it sounded like you were talking about when the father confronted him about the abuse. The 10-page apology letter did not come after a confrontation, so I wasn't thinking about that part of the story.

And, just to pick nits a little further, he could have apologized without begging for forgiveness. I just don't think we should embellish beyond what's been reported. The report is sad and scary enough.

Two-year personal injury statute of limitations in Pennsylvania.
