Is A.J. the Christopher Nolan of journalism or is Christopher Nolan the A.J. of film?

I'm curious. What did you find so creepy about the lead?

With all respect, Smasher, I completely disagree with this. It was a friend writing about something he simply can't believe, but he didn't dismiss it at all. I thought the tone and words were just right.

I wish the media would quit calling these things "sex scandals."

Sexual assault, child rape, whatever accurately reports the allegations. But they aren't sex scandals.

I think it's way too salacious for my taste. Obviously, that's a great detail. I'm not for sanitizing the news. But I don't think you lead with it in a newspaper straight news story.

I haven't seen this referred to as a sex scandal, but yes, I agree that term has a much different tone than sexual assault, molestation or child rape.

To me, a sex scandal is a politician in a illicit affair with a staffer or something like that. This is much worse.

Oh my Lord. I can't unread that.

These stories are so fucking terrible, but I'm glad they are coming out.

So many more people that you can imagine have been victimized. And, so many more people than we can imagine are predators as well.

Only shining a light on this problem will help to fix it, and help people put it behind them (as best is possible).

And, maybe, just maybe, perverts will learn they can't act on their impulses. "Just" touching the leg of a 7-year-old girl is not appropriate in any way, shape, or fashion.

As a society, we need to take this seriously, and not blame the victims for not coming out sooner. The stigma of abuse is real. We need to fix that. The fear of sending uncle Bill to jail is real. Fuck uncle Bill. He deserves to go to jail if he diddles kids.

He always kind of struck me the same way. He wasn't necessarily mean, but he had kind of a nasty streak to him. That sometimes came across in his copy, which is probably why people in Philly liked his writing.
