Yeah, Conlin can write, but he always seemed like an cranky old gasbag. I stopped reading him a long time ago.

Between this and Sandusky and Fine, if anything, I hope that a reminder is served to people that most of these incidents are between children and adults that they know. Friends and family members.

A lot of damage has been done to some very innocent victims. But if there is a silver lining, perhaps it is that some of the damage that Chris Hansen and his bullshit wrought upon parents is being undone at the same time.

Same thought as with Sandusky: It's going to get worse before it's done.

We respect these people as professionals, but we have no idea who they are as people. I'm sure there are writers who were on beats with Conlin for decades as alarmed by this as we are from a distance. Their 60-second TV opinion on the DH doesn't tell us who they are, and clearly 40 years of their opinions on sports don't shed any real light either.

Happiest guys in American: saberheads. A couple of saber-oriented posters have made this clear on the thread. Only Chass or Morgan being caught doing this stuff would bring more schaudenfreude.

And the "public figure" part of the libel law is surely about all that allows that lede to be published. Otherwise, how would you know for sure that something one person says from decades ago would absolutely be found to be truth in a libel trial?

I want to see if this is addressed on The Sports Reporters this weekend.

You're numb to a story about Bill Conlin putting a little girl on his lap so he could ejaculate in his pants? Is that what you're saying?

Yesterday, it was so shocking, it was like hearing Santa Claus did this.

    Today, he's numb.
