Except they did come forward as kids. What were they supposed to do when their parents did nothing? Call a press conference? The real truth that NO ONE wants to discuss is that child molestation is often swept under the rug and overlooked.

No, no, no. It all started with Paterno. It was in all the papers.

If it's true, I'd wish it on him, the fucking lowlife.

I'm not sure what is going on; usually I can give out the link to the story even before it is "published."

But it's on the front of the site now.

    I'm guessing it's a WordPress bug ...

Are you really going to use this situation to try and act like it makes Paterno look better?

First off, I truly feel sorry for the victims in this case. My prayers go out to them.
Bill Conlin is someone that I've known for decades and it truly sickens me that these allegations have come out. He is someone, as a professional, that I've grown to admire. His work as a journalist I will always remember fondly.
As a human being, it would appear that he's had some issues. It's a tragic situation for all involved.
Again, my prayers go out to the victims.

I'm anticipating the BBWAA saying something like, "Molesting kids didn't make Conlin a better writer."

No, he wasn't. He wasn't enshrined in the Hall of Fame. He's not a "Hall of Fame sportswriter." He's not in the "writers wing" of the Hall of Fame. Those things don't exist.

He did win an award from the baseball writers, and that award is given at the Hall, and its winners are honored in a permanent exhibit in the library. But not in the Hall.

Writers (once and for all, please) are not in the Hall of Fame.

(Though some could qualify for a Hall of Shame.)
