Boy, is that Philly . . . and by that, I don't mean a relative preference for child-abusers, but the subsurface racism that continues to make the town edgy. Philly's not unique . . . Boston's another obvious example, and Chicago is hardly immune.

Professionally speaking, there's no comparison between SAS and Conlin. I too pick Conlin.

Conlin had more than "issues" if the allegations are true. Abuse can't be written off as an "issue".

I'm speaking about quality of work as a journalist, nothing more.

    No question about that.

Yeah, I didn't express that very well. But there was some skepticism that it's now coming out "in public," I sensed, and again, means zilch.

Also, I'm learning a lot about this Hall of Fame business today. As everybody has said, broadcasters and writers are listed nowhere "in the Hall" and this paragraph makes it a pretty clear distinction, again never mentioning anything concerning Hall induction:

So, I guess it's always good to learn something, even when you're slightly embarrassed by it. I always assumed there was a Hall wing for writers, and I'm too old to be doing that word.

For some people in Philadelphia, this is like finding out there's no Santa Claus or Tooth Fairy. Conlin was a beloved figure to many.

    Complete and utter horseshit.

Obviously, you have never lived in the area.
    In other words...

I'm not a fan, but you honestly think your opinion on his ability is sufficient to completely write off the possibility that some people hold his writing in high regard?

For those who say we should wait for all the facts to come out, it's unfortunate, but it's more than likely all the facts never will come out. There will be no criminal prosecution. I don't believe there can be any civil litigation.

So, essentially, what you see is probably all you're going to get unless someone comes forward who was molested in 1996 or more recently.
