Mark Mangino, because I don't want him in Lawrence.

Maybe I should have explained this a tad better.

I'm not saying Saban is the greatest coach on the planet. Hell, I'm not even saying he could have decent success at UA. What I'm saying is that he's got the one qualification that program really needs -- a big name.

Whether you think it's right or not, luring Saban would take huge concessions from the UA camp. He would have a lot of control. And any outsider with that type of decision-making power would make a ton of changes to that athletic dept. That, more than winning games or championships, would make the biggest difference for the UA program now.

That was my only point. Personally, I could give a shit who UA hires. As a matter of fact, I sort of hope they hand it to Kines. Good guy, great quote. (Read something from him tonight about needing to keep their heads down and keep on hoeing, "'cause if you look up, you're liable to hoe your toe off." That's some good shit.)

As for all the other stuff you posted ... I agree. I'm tired of seeing these whining bastards on every level. I'm tired of the posturing. I'm tired of hearing some bullshit about how they "plan to be here for a long time." I'm tired of them propping themselves up for a contract extension two years before their current deal runs out and then jetting a year later when they get a better offer.

For entertainment purposes, I just went to an Alabama fan board and found these suggestions.

    1. Lovie Smith is one of the NFL's lowest-paid coaches. He would be good enough for Bama, but he used to be a Vols assistant, so he's out.

    2. Jon Gruden would be good enough for Bama, too, but he was a Vols assistant, too. And his wife was a Vols cheerleader, so he's also out.

I wish Bama had a coaching vacancy every year. That would be awesome. Unfortunately it only has one every few years or so.

Edited to say Jon instead of "Job."

It's like term limits without the election

    Amen to that!

(Except I want Gruden to replace CPF).

That's the oldest, most worn-out trick in Finebaum's arsenal. He used to be a great columnist, but now it's obvious he just doesn't care. I think he's done this column at least five times (replace the names and details), probably more.
It's great that he's pulling a paycheck from Mobile for this dreck, but he's obviously mailing it in now.

What a clever way to get in some more shots at West Virginia. It must just be pure hell for him right now living in Alabama.

Yeah, you could kinda see the setup for that about two pages before he got to it...

As Richard Pryor said to young Eddie Murphy:

"Whatever the fuck make the people laugh, say that shit ...

"Do the people laugh when you say what you say? Do you get paid?"

I wouldn't go there myself, friends, but I think Mr. Finebaum is well within his rights -- based on the Pryor Doctrine stated above -- to tell us all to have a Coke and a smile and STFU.
