Whose career-altering/ending injury do you remember?

Derrick Thomas. I remember it like it was yesterday.

And the Chiefs defense hasn't been the same since. :-\

Godm that was awful. Tom Browning of the Reds had a similar injury. It hurts to watch.

I was going to say that one. I just rememeber his leg just swinging around, gross.

Also, in 1990 the Eastern Kentucky Univeristy quarterback had a nasty injury. He got hit and broke his leg. He was facing down, it was sticking out the opposite way and you could see the skin where it was twisted around. Nasty.

Well, one of the funniest I saw was the Seattle mariners mascot. In the Kingdome, that big moose thing was being pulled around by a sled. He lost control and slid into the outfield wall, pinnng hisleg underneath and breaking it.

He was writing in pain, but, he had that moose head on with thhat big smile. Freakin; hilarious. I stil laugh when I think about that one.

Some magazine, I think it was Maxim, one time listed the top sports injuries of all time. Theisman was No. 2. No. 1 was a guy in China who got his arm ripped off doing tug of war. I think that's pretty career-altering. Unless you were just goin to use the other arm.

McGahee and McCallum were pretty gruesome too. Moises Alou dislocating his ankle once wasn't fun to look at.

McCallum is the worst I've ever seen. I'm too young for Theisman, but I have seen clips. McCallum's the worst I've ever seen live. Dravecky was bad, and Prothro's was nasty too. Actually, McGahee's was right up there with McCallum (pretty much the same injury). Anytime something bends horribly wrong in a direction it shouldn't, it makes my stomach turn.

One you don't hear a lot about was Cliff Floyd's wrist hanging by a thread after a collision at first base. And it was most definitely career-altering. As solid as he's been, he might have been one of the game's great power hitters if not for that injury.

The Broncos were 14-2 that year. But they started 13-0.

Human division: Wendell Davis, Bears wide receiver who blew both ACLs on one play; and Shea Ralph, UConn guard whose career was probably finished in the '99 (?) Big East final against Notre Dame (you could hear her scream before she even hit the floor).
Animal division: It's easy. Go for Wand, '90 Breeders Cup. Barbaro twaeked a hammy in comparison to THAT.
