You've been a big believer in Donald Trump on here.

How many bankruptcies does he have?

Jesus. I am not arguing the word "intent" semantically. I am talking about what he agreed to. Take the word "intent" out. ... he either was agreeing to terms in return for money. ... or he was signing his name to something to get loan money, but his word had no meaning (i.e. -- he didn't intend to make good).

This shouldn't be that difficult. When you sign a promissory note, it isn't a semantic thing. You are saying you intend to make every good faith effort to live up to the terms. If in the future you don't make those efforts, call it whatever you want to describe that kind of unethical behavior. Does "breach of contract" work? Does, "He lied to get someone to give him money" work?

Does "his circumstances turned in ways he didn't foresee" work?

It seems to in a lot of other cases.

Do you even know what "intent" means?

First of all, as usual, you are attributing stuff you imagine to me. I am not a "big believer" in Donald Trump. He's an idiot.

Secondly, Donald Trump has never been bankrupt.

The guy has every right to default on his student loan agreement. But based on the article, he remains an unscrupulous dick who hasn't reached the point where he can be honest with even himself about his actions.

He has filed for corporate bankruptcy at least four times. How many creditors got stiffed on those?

I guess this writer should have formed a corporation. Then you'd see all this as just smart business.

I don't advocate lying, but, Jesus, I'm not going to obsess over one person's decision.

In the grand scheme of things, this is a policy problem, with a policy solution. I understand that approach doesn't give Ragu a platform to moralize about peasants, but that's where the focus should be.

A corporation files for corporate bankruptcy. Not a person. You told me that Donald Trump was bankrupt. That was really not true.

Secondly, to the extent that Donald Trump -- or any company with his name on it -- has ever entered into a contract and then reneged on what he (or it) agreed to, yes, it is the same exact thing. It's morally dubious behavior.

If any of his businesses defaulted on loans because of inability to pay, it's not the same exact thing.

Trump: “I’ve cut debt — by the way, this isn’t me personally, it’s a company. Basically I've used the laws of the country to my advantage and to other people’s advantage just as Leon Black has, Carl Icahn, Henry Kravis has, just as many, many others on top of the business world have.”

Black, Icahn, Kravis -- three more people who, according to Ragu, are ruining America.
