Well, UAB is looking for non-conference opponents for this fall, so there's that.

Grand Valley State may be looking for a payday as well.

If you're asking for my stance on how God judges us, you've missed pretty wildly. My post wasn't rooted in theology. I write very rarely about theology here because it isn't that generally interesting, it can be hard and maddening, and while fascinating to me, a great grasp of isn't always germane to a full-bodied Christian faith.

Nope, the guy's full of horseshit on a plain ol worldly level.

Sounds like a smart girl. Why would you honor your word when there are no negative consequences?

Dear Abby: I am a single woman who borrowed $80,000 to send my daughter to college with the understanding that she would take over the payments once she was professionally established. She is now so “into” her new lifestyle that she is refusing to have contact with her “poor” birth mother. She refuses to take responsibility for repaying the loan, which is in my name, and says “tough luck” to my stupidity. This means I will have to continue working until I drop dead. Abby, I am 60. Is there any help for me? Has this happened to other Baby Boomers?

    Poor Birth Mother in Georgia

Dear Poor: Sadly, yes it has. And no, there isn’t help for you. Because the agreement with your daughter was wasn’t put in writing, you don’t have a legal means to force her to assume the loan payments.

That girl made quite a business decision.

Of course there's a negative consequence, her relationship with her mother.

Doesn't sound like she views that as a negative consequence, thus the lack of a need to pay her back.

I think I definitely distinguished pretty early on between dealing with a sophisticated business and an individual.

As I mentioned earlier, the cool thing about doing right is that IT DOESN'T BLEEPING MATTER whether you are dealing with a sophisticated business or an individual.

    Do right. Period.

What if you are a coach dealing with the media before an NBA Finals game?

I think that the "right thing to do" is probably to pay back the loans. Probably.

I also think that I only live once.

Steve Kerr was doing right for his team. Lying didn't hurt anyone except perhaps the Cavs.

This woman's mom is 60-years-old. Her life is nearly over. Who cares if she's burdened with debt in her old age?

The daughter is young, and has her whole life ahead of her. Can anyone blame her for choosing life?
