Well, let me dogwalk you through this. No one is making fun of her for caring about her dog.

People are making fun of her for writing about it, to shine a spotlight on herself for her compassion for animals, when all it actually does is reveal her immaturity and ignorance.

Everyone cares about their goddamn dogs. They hire a dog walker, or get a neighbor to check in, or they rush home every day to let them out.

If I was dumb enough to ask a prospective employer about how to take care of my dog during the workday, and they were kind enough to educate me about the existence of dog-walking services, I wouldn't write about it with the idea that it reflected positively on myself.

Thank you for the patronizing. You may not have been making fun of her for hiring a dog walker, but others were.

And the definitive statement I put in bold has been dispelled in this thread. Some don't see a need to have their dogs let out during the day.

A lot of us have been freelancers. Many have done it quite a lot, for quite a while, and quite successfully, for many major and/or reputable media organizations.

Think back to your days of doing it regularly.

Now, could you have imagined, even in your wildest dreams, ever going from doing that, to being a supervising editor at the L.A. Times?

    It's mind-boggling.

You're dogs are locked up in your private quarters!

Bring them to me. I'll take them for a walk.

It takes chutzpah to make the choice to have a dog, and then ask people to pay up to support that choice. She should try a GoFundMe drive.

Yeah, but they did offer to pay for a dog walker. You think, at times the dog wished Mike Vick were his owner?

A 50ish woman skipped a rather important afterwork meeting at my place the other day because she needed to go home and let her dogs out.
