Why Scoop's Vegas Column TRUMPS Whitlock's

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by Sportsbruh, Feb 21, 2007.

  1. This is a DeliBerate d_ b, but this reads like a different take:

I'd like a better explanation for the difference between this and the AOL column than "different venues" because, frankly, that one doesn't make any sense.

Uhhhhh . . . those who don't tip in Vegas don't stay in front of any worthwhile lines, for long . . .

The comparison of these two columns isn't even close. Just at the core, Whitlock's is easier to read, far more entertaining and identified better with the average reader. I don't mind the use of nicknames or street language in columns, but to be honest, Scoop's column is flat-out boring and really doesn't give the reader any useful or interesting info. I don't particularly have any personal feelings of like or dislike for either Whitlock or Scoop nor do I regularly read either of them, but if you want an opinion based solely on those two peices of work, I'd say Whitlock's was easily the better one.

Colloquial expressions: are often baffling to persons OUTSIDE of the particular subculture in which they are commonly used.

Quite Frankly - I don't give a fuck what you and you and you think of my writing. This is a stankin ass message board. This is a place where INFORMAL DICTION resides.

Most of your rants attacked the above. Get some new material already.

I think when I grow up I want to be like Scoop. You know - hobnobing with the HEAVYWEIGHTS, getting their love and loving life in the process.

What a great concept - because its obvious that most of you are THE MOST MISERABLE PEOPLE on this planet - and you cover SPORTS!!!!!!

    Yes... I know

  6. Dude, you're the one who asked all us whiteys on this "stankin ass message board" for our opinions. If you can't stand the heat, get out of Miami.

My cat's breath smells of cat food.

That's my only opinion of scoopsbruh's writing, on ESPN and on here.

  8. What, exactly, do you do? Except, of course, trolling on a message board for sports journalists. I'd be willing to bet 90-95 percent of your posts are dedicated to bashing Whitlock. How about instead of being like Scoop when you grow up, you act like a decent human being and not a pathetitard with an ax to grind?

I'm not sure the slang used in Scoop's column could be considered colloquial expressions, and I'm quite sure, Sportsbruh, that you have no idea what subculture everyone on the board would be a member of. I don't particularly care how you spell on an informal message board, but you asked people to compare the columns and weigh in. I take it what you really wanted was for people to say Scoop's was far superior and he's the best writer on the planet. As I said before, I have no particular fondness for either writer, but as someone who enjoys a good story, I liked Whitlock's better.

I'd like to take what Ellis said and add my name to it, if he wouldn't mind. ;)

If a blackman pooted you people would be the first in line to smell it.

Look at yaselves - just greedily gobbling up ANTHING I lob at you.

No wonder why you hate Scoop - You wished you could be him.

Now I see why Whitlock writes the way he writes.

Don't you have somewhere else to whine and swing your fist? You are being tolerated only for your comic value.
