Will COVID-19 be the needle that finally bursts the sports bubble?

Districts in metro Denver are already delaying starting dates. I don't know about another lockdown but I definitely don't see sports in the fall.

Polis mentioned the backlog in tests the other day. Still, the daily average over the past seven days is 6,500 and the statewide seven-day average of tests coming back positive is 6.7 percent, up from a low of 3.6 percent one month ago.

Hancock yesterday was sounding the panic alarm and threatened to go into more of a lockdown because cases are going up in Denver, despite a citywide mask use. When walking outside or at the park, I'd say it's 50 percent usage. Inside businesses, it's about 90 percent, but I don't see workers telling people to mask up, either.

That's where I'm starting to wonder more about lockdowns than actual sports. The politicians definitely sound worried lately. I do think it will take a little more to get to that point, but we're closer than many people think. DPS already delayed school start (edit, you said that above!), only by a week but still, and I think we may start seeing more of that too.

Even defiant Douglas County is delaying school. Same with Aurora. But I agree. Polis and Hancock have sounded a lot more panicked the past week to 10 days.

"Slow to respond, quick to downplay the risk, unwilling to create a national strategy, quite willing to attack governors who took the pandemic seriously, pushing for premature openings of states, flaunting a no-mask stance for months and turning that into a belligerent political statement, Trump and his ideologues are now marinating in a midsummer mess of their own creation. What an epic failure of leadership, one that will deprive Trump of his cherished autumn fealty festivals at a packed football stadium."

    Looks factual to me.

    Verses 12-14 apply, too.

“But this is what the holy God of Israel says: ‘You ignore what I tell you and rely on violence and deceit. You are guilty. You are like a high wall with a crack running down it; suddenly you will collapse. You will be shattered like a clay pot, so badly broken that there is no piece big enough to pick up hot coals with or to dip water from a cistern.’ ”
