We had a girls soccer team once be reduced to mostly underclass players and JV players for a regional tournament semifinal because it was the school's prom night. Why? Because the most of the seniors needed time, as our story said, for "pre-prom primping."

 

In my neck of the woods, football went well with a limited number of opponents having issues. Softball won its own single-day tournament (three games) after a 14-day quarantine.

A lot of social distancing during basketball. Spring baseball and track, no problems.

It's good to be able to get out.

 

Covered a league cross country meet last week and one kid asked if he needed a mask before I interviewed him.

Schools here also came up with a creative way to have a volleyball season. Instead of waiting on the state to clear a six-man season, they're playing beach volleyball instead.

 

BUMP ... because the spring tussle certainly started with a bang.
