I guess. But considering the academy did nothing the night of the Oscars, it seems like overkill, and pointless after a while. Like it was done just to make up for the fact that nothing was done at the time the incident occurred. Probably because the academy couldn't/didn't have the guts to escort out someone who it knew was going to be winning the Best Actor award a half-hour later.

Safety concerns or not, I'm pretty sure everyone knows that Smith isn't likely to go slapping anybody else around at the Oscars again.

I'd have made him sit it out next year, and then, he could come back and have to face the music, and all the questions that would be broached about his last appearance there, the year after that. That'd do it, I'm sure.

Even now 2 weeks later, WTF? The incident is even more shocking now with each replay.

Serious props to Rock for taking the assault and continuing like a pro.

It’s Jada’s fault. Bitch She doesn’t get enough blame.
Will was laughing until Mrs set him off. But what kind of pussy and attention whore does that? BTW Smith now becomes the answer to the trivia question, who is the worst actor to win Best Actor award

I think he'll be just fine financially, but I wonder if all this - whether totally real or staged - was worth it to Smith's reputation.

Sound Like the lawyer defending the guy who killed his wife. Your honor his wife is dead he clearly can’t kill her again so he’s not a danger

That sounds like a timeout. The academy punished him.

Then about ten people kicked his ass, and he left in an ambulance.

Perhaps this will be the Academy's contingency plan for the next time it happens.

I don’t think the average Oscars crowd is ‘bout that life.
