Whatever you think of Isner and Mahut's games, the ability to stay focused for that long and not lose two games in a row was unbelievable. Admittedly I only watched up until 66-all but even then Mahut was hitting winners (Isner was just thinking serves it appeared).

My point is, playing the game in the British Isles is 1,000 percent better than playing in the U.S. They play the game because it's an enjoyable recreational activity; we play it to make money. Sure, I'd rather be more comfortable playing in 70-degree temperatures as opposed to 40, but that has little to do with my enjoyment of the game. I've had a great four hours playing in rain and winds that howled so much it blew a flagstick right out of the cup.

I think I heard that Mahut was a former junior Wimbledon champion.

Note to players: avoid Court 18 at all costs.

What is accomplished by changing the scoring? It has already been explained why a set must be won by 2. Now you want to get rid of deuce, why?

Winning by 2 means that, essentially, nothing is won on one fluke point.

Yes, a fluke let cord or fluke bad bounce can win a game for you . . . but you had to earn the ad to get to that point. Ot it can get you to an ad . . . but you still must win the next point to win the game.

In short, it helps ensure that the better player (or at least the player who plays better that day) will win the match.

You can's just sit back on defense all day and hope a lucky bounce will steal you a match. Sorry, soccer.

The rule os must win by two is necessary because conditions (sun, wind, etc.) can favor one side or the other. It's why players change ends on ODD number games and why tiebreakers go 1-2-2-2-2-2 in terms of who serves. It also means players must win points in both the ad and deuce courts, so just dominating one side (if you're a lefty, for example) isn't enough. Pretty well thought-out actually.

I have no problem with the scoring system. I just think you have to cut it off at some point. John McEnroe, speaking on NBC's Wimbledon coverage on Saturday, suggested 10-all in the fifth set. I would have no problem with that.

Nice to see Djerkovic and the midget twit Hewitt playing in the Round of 16 thus assuring us that just one asshole will make it into the quarterfinals. Still waiting for Djerkovic to be the next man in tennis.

Roddick bounced by Yen-Shun Lu in five sets.
