Any Kobe show would be dominated by the narrative of how the Colorado rape allegations are handled.

 

The problem is getting the band back together. Without contacts, all the actors will be tough to wrangle. There are some big names who can choose to do a movie at any time.

 

I felt such a horrible reaction — as I faded out and we saw the montage start with the 1985 Lakers winning.

And that was it.

I wanted more. Many of us did.

Unfortunately, there aren’t enough of us for the audience. We’re not the prime demo. We’re, for the most part, older and male. We’re hard to reach unless it’s NFL or college football live viewing.

The prime streaming demo… still-single/childless females under 35 who treat their puppy/cat like a human, are obsessed with Disney or TikTok and shave their cooters so they can feel like they’re 11 forever.

 

I agree won't someone please think of old men for once? all we have is football and college football and Yellowstone and NCIS and oppenheimer and NCIS Hawaii and politics left

 

Peacock recently had a half-decent movie on LeBron's upbringing, through the St. Vincent-St. Mary's years. It stopped before the draft, but it wasn't half bad.

 

America's appetite for Jerry Buss explicit sex scenes wasnt as strong as HBOMax anticipated.

 

They cut the season order to 7, didn’t promote it at all and didn’t even run it during hoops season. The cancellation was a forgone conclusion.

 

Also a tough run to get on 9p during NFL, even just for the final two episodes. Oh well… loved it.

 

They could have flashforwarded to Jeanie Buss doing Playboy.

 

Getting the finale tonight: I liked the nod to the Bad Boys who I'm sure were to arrive in Season 4. Would have been fun to see them find the actors for that group as well

 

Rosie O'Donnell could play Laimbeer. ... Hey, she needs the work.

 

The Eastern Conference was kind of a three-cornered soap opera of its own through the Eighties. (Well, actually four-cornered if you count the Sixers brief moment of glory with the 83 title)

You had the Celtics as the team of the Establishment, Larry Bird, old time fundamentals, blue collar, blood sweat and beer (and not least, identified as the team of White America), jump shooting, muscle and rebounding, none of that foo foo Hollywood Showtime fsst breaking stuff.

Them the Pistons decided they had to beat the Celtics at their own game, they had an up and coming team of young sharpshooters led by Isiah Thomas and Kelly Tripucka and Bill Laimbeer (who was actually derided as soft the first half of his career) but they were continually ass kicked in playoff series by the rougher tougher Celtics, so the Pistons decided they needed to get rougher and tougher than any team ever had been.

They replaced the dainty jump shooter Tripucka with thr bruising low post points producer Adrian Dantley, brought in Rick Mahorn to ratchet up the muscle even further, and added Rodman to the mix and got to the point they could actually beat the Celtics into the floorboards.

Which got them past the Celtics and allowed them to sneak past the Showtime Lakers and Magic's sprained ankle for their first title.
And then Jordan arrived. Well, he had already been there a couple years, but Jordan arrived as the full fledged Michael Jordan, and the Bulls had to get past and then get rid of the Pistons as the Pistons had scraped the Celtics off the bottom of their shoes half a decade before.
