YF, I know the district very well. I've brought it up in discussions of education on this site. I was making a joke, though it is true that most of the Hasidim do not send their children to public schools.

I know what they mean, but "ass drivers" is a great term.

"The times for conjugal duty prescribed in the Torah are: for men of independence, every day; for laborers, twice a week; for ass-drivers, once a week; for camel-drivers, once in thirty days; for sailors, once in six months. These are the rulings of Rabbi Eliezer."

Not what I am getting at at all. It's just that until I was reading about that whole ... situation ... I'd never read anything about birth defects being especially prevalent among the Hasidim. That purported elevated risk is in play in lots of the turmoil in that district.

I know what you meant. I was just making a joke that points out the serious flaws in that school district.

It could be a factor, as there is a tremendous amount of money diverted from the public schools in East Ramapo to pay for the education of children in the district who go to private schools and many of them are in special education programs. The question remains how much of that is legitimate and how much is a board of education dominated by parents who send their children to private schools funneling the district's money away from the public schools. It is an ugly and complex situation that really draws us way off topic.

Oh, and to clarify ... I only brought it up in response to DWs comment re laws preventing cousins, etc. from marrying. He suggested the risk of birth defects appears to be overblown, and I just mentioned this as suggestive of that perhaps not being the case.

Sucks if you're a sailor. You're away from home enough and now you can only get laid twice a year?

That sounds like conjugal relations with your wife - just twice a year. Seems like you are granted free reign to boink whomever you can on the other 363 days. If it's not explicitly banned, then it depends on what your definition of "is" is. Right? Has history taught us anything? 1998-99 rewrote a lot of things!

Fred Sanford (RIP) wonders where all the love is. Debuted in January 1972.

Yeah, but white people didn't want to live next door to the Sanfords.

If the Huxtables were your neighbors, you'd be fine with it. In fact, you probably couldn't afford to live next to them.

Why won't the right lead any social change?

Speaking of the Cosby Show, shouldn't its reruns be cancelled given all the allegations?
