With gay marriage decided, what will be the next big left-led social change?

Exactly. I feel the same way, and I really don't think legalizing it would change much at all.

And, I also support gay marriage.

But I do think it's funny. During the gay marriage "debate" anyone who mentioned a "slipper slope" and the potential legalization of polygamy was shouted down as a bigot, and was told that it would never happen.

Now, that gay marriage is legal, everyone is like, "sure, who gives a shit, legalize polygamy too."

It's too bad Yawn isn't here anymore. He'd really be vindicated. Thankfully we've got this new guy, Doom and gloom, to take uo the fight where he left off.

What if your spouse wants to become a polygamist? In that scenario, it affects you. Then where do you stand?

That's the thing. For the folks who are upset about this, do you have any gay friends? At all?

Can you not share in their happiness at all?

I mean, I get a little bored with some of the straight people who are celebrating this like they are so personally invested, but you can't help but be happy for the gay couples you know who are finally able to get married, or have their current marriage recognized by their home state.

I support straight polygamy, but not gay polygamy.

MC is going to freak out when three gay dudes get married to each other, but still want an open marriage.

It was funny reading the letters to the editor in the Wall Street Journal this morning. Like stepping into another world. One pissed off letter writer after another about the decision.

Unless you are privy to new research that I have not seen (that has been peer reviewed and published), I think the science on increasing the risk of genetic mutations (doubling your chances of passing on recessive genes, for example) is pretty convincing. I also don't want any of the fine people in my home state of Montana (to say nothing of the Dakotas, Idaho and the entire Ozark region) to wall themselves off from society and begin to legal marry and procreate with their children, which would fall under the whole "legal adult consenting without coercion" clause.

We were just talking about this the other day at work. I don't think it's as convincing as we think it is, particularly to justify bans on cousin and second cousin incest. We talked about this in Family Law, in fact, for a day or so.

Fun Fact: Iceland is so small and so many of the people there are related, an app was developed to tell if the girl you were hitting on at the bar in Reykjavik was a cousin or not.

It kept European royalty humming for a few centuries (albeit with the occasional genetically defective heirs).
