Spin Doctors holds up over time LOTS better than ABBA.

Chumbawumba, that could be debated, but I still like that song.

That first Spin Doctors record really does hold up, except for Two Princes, which is pop trash.

The second Spin Doctors record ... eek.

Two Princes, that I'll take any day over Dancing Queen.

I think when you say "worst," you have to consider the embarrassment factor. If I heard this on the radio and I was singing along, would I feel like a dick if someone caught me?

I wouldn't consider Spin Doctors or ABBA as being able to qualify on a worst list. I do own both by the way...

  5. Oh, I've still got Silverchair's Frogstomp album ... piece of crap.

And they were supposed to be the next big thing.

I don't think that was on a B II M album, was it? I know it was on the Boomerang soundtrack that also produced I'd Die Without You by PM Dawn and Love Should Have Brought You Home by the debuting Toni Braxton. A seminal album in new jack history.

End of the Road was on the previous album.

"II" had "On Bended Knee," "Water Runs Dry" and a few other syrupy tracks.

(Black Panther Publishing was credited with owning the lyrics on that album, I believe. Could a white artist have KKK Publishing holding title to the lyrics?)

When I used to literally sell CDs so I could eat (and drink) at Ball State, somehow The Best of Foghat, which sucks except for maybe two out of, gawd, 18 songs, survived all my Stalinist-like CD purges. The likes of Steve Miller's Greatest Hits, Best of Joe Walsh and Eazy E's Eazy-Duz-It were all off-loaded for Mac-and-Cheese, all regrettable decisions.

All of my Eagles' CDs, the Best of Eddie Money, and the Best of .38 Special were among the others sold and they are not missed.

So Best of Foghat is probably my choice. I tried like hell to sell Pink Floyd's The Wall, but no one would ever take it. Aside from Comfortably Numb, probably the most overrated album ever (and I LOVE Pink Floyd's Meddle, Dark Side of the Moon, Animals and especially Wish You Were Here) and certainly the most overrated album I own and definitely the most whiny piece of shit ever recorded.

I have to admit that my latest purchase, A $5 Amazon impulse buy for B.T. Express' Do It (Til You're Satisfied) -- the entire studio album, not the great single -- is going up my worst list with a bullet. Once you get past the title cut and Express, it pretty much blows. I mean, a cover of Close To You? Really?

I'm sure Z-Man will be on any day now to audit my list, but he owns Ciccione Youth and some Poco albums or something so I don't want to hear any shit out of him. (Pre-emptive strikes rule! Hi Z-Man! :D)

While I never bought any of their CDs before, Boyz II Men's greatest hits is one helluva purchase.

I know we've probably seeded this row of the garden before, but how did Boyz II Men go from mega-hit machine to anonymity so quickly? They had three hits (End of the Road, I'll Make Love To You, One Sweet Day) that spent a combined 42 weeks on top of the Billboard charts. Apparently they had problems with Motown and some health issues, but their drop was precipitous, given how able they were to belt out long-term hits.

Also, according to Wikipedia, Cooleyhighharmony was re-released in 1993 with End of the Road as a bonus track.

Also also, they did the A Different World theme song for its final season. I did not realize it. Once the Dwayne/Whitley class graduated, I lost interest.

    Sirs, Madames,

I do have Metal Machine Music on vinyl. (Lou Reed's contractual obligation album.)
