What are you, 95 years old?

    This is 2008, not 1955.

If you're offended by body piercings, I'd suggest you stay home.

I thought about rewording that, too. But I so desperately wanted to finished reading this thread. I just went with it.

No worries. Those orange shorts still fit?

It's been a couple years, so they're a little tight. But the fat-sucking stockings make everything look presentable.

  5. Sorry, didn't think I needed the blue font.

Don't want to be confused with the following poster.

That's a huge stretch and an intellectually dishonest one. No one has said the food server must be, for instance, of the same race as a customer. But there are plenty of jobs in which a nose ring would be inappropriate. I don't think I've ever seen one on a newscaster, a doctor, an auto sales professional, a real estate agent (although I did see one wear a sports bra to a showing once), grocery clerk -- indeed, most jobs that entail dealing with the public. I expect the businesses I patronize to be businesslike. Your moral indignation is juvenile. You ought to grow up and so should the guy at Subway.

My doctor's nose is pierced, and it doesn't seem to bother her patients given her waiting list. Standards change over time

Come on. Are you actually suggesting this has become -- or ever will become -- the norm in the medical profession? There is always that one exception, like the slob working at Subway. "Oh, yeah -- my cousin's friend's doctor's boyfriend's next-door neighbor is a federal judge and he wears a nose ring! And he's got a tat of a reptile on his weiner!"

    Let's not get that absurd.

Seriously, Frank. People with piercings and weird tattoos interact with the public every damn day.

    Not a big deal.

If you Google "nose rings" and "restaurants" you'll see there's plenty of disagreement about this for cosmetic reasons. Long Beach City College's culinary program bans them for health-safety reasons while "preparing or serving food or while around food preparation areas."

Ever been to an Indian restaurant?

And you're really switching arguments midstream.

But, whatever, you don't like noserings. That's cool. Doesn't mean that no one else can have one, or that having one makes someone else unprofessional.
