Hawkins isn't the worst CU coach of the last five years.

Well, while we're on the topic of coaches from the state of Kansas, (and, I guess, black coaches), Ron Prince vs. Turner Gill would make for one hell of a match-up in a shitty coach bracket.

Marty Mornhinweg, because if you win the toss to start overtime and you KICK OFF then you know jack and shit about football.

Larry Brown, 2004 U.S. Olympic men's basketball team.

Should have been fired mid-Games, and almost was.

Ted Garvin, Detroit Red Wings...lasted 11 games as a head coach went 2-8-1. This was in the Harkness era.

    Star Man:
Just curious why you think an accomplished coach such as Larry Brown should have been fired.
The man has coached the sport at a high level for almost a half-century.
If he sucked so badly he would have been cycled out long ago, like a Carlesimo.
He is basically seated among our American basketball elders.
    And for good reason.

That's excellent troll work. It shows a command of the poster's history and a willingness to allow one's own thread to devolve into a screaming match.

    I applaud.

Richie Kotite is not in the conversation, members and moderators.
Kotite coached a 10-6 team to the brink of the playoffs, minus its superstar quarterback.
That Philadelphia team also finished 1-1-1 defensively - a very rare triple crown in pro football.
His Eagles team beat the f-k out of eventual Super Bowl champion Dallas on a Monday night the next season.

Hawkins inherited a team that won the Big 12 North and turned it into one of the worst teams in a BCS conference. Embree was awful as well, but Hawkins was worse.
