I liked that movie the first time I saw it, althought watching the shaky cameras wasn't fun.

After that, that woman's constant shrieking got on my nerves.

Juvenile sexual humour has always been a mainstay of British comedy-like Benny Hill.

The penis episode wasn't supposed to be a "comedy riot". It was just one of those unspeakably uncomfortable moments that the British version captured

The American office is good but I'll take the original Ricky Gervais version any day.

And there isn't a character in the US version who comes closes to the unforgettable horridness of Chris Finch.

  3. It's not unspeakably uncomfortable, however, if it has been established as a behavioral norm in the confines of the world that the show has established. Why would Jim and Pam be uncomfortable about an inflatable penis when they themselves are making dick and vagina jokes against Dwight?

    Uncomfortable from the viewer's standpoint.

Anyway, it's a matter of taste,

I find lots of British comedy totally unfunny--Mr. Bean comes to mind--but in my opinion the original British version of The Office is superior. That's all.

I saw Baseketball mentioned earlier. That is a funny movie.

    Carry on.

The worst movie I ever paid to see what the last of the 90s Batman movies, the one with Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze. I think what makes a movie genuinely bad is not just straight awfulness, but awfulness in relation to the potential for what it could/should have been. Here you have one of the all-time great characters in Batman, plus Clooney, Schwarzenegger and a bunch of good film talent, and it's all put to the service of a piece of garbage that failed in its attempts at comedy and also at action. Ugh.

If you don't believe me, read Ebert's review, which is hilarious.

I want to add that my wife loves the Santa Clause series with Tim Allen, and being a wise ass when she popped it in two Christmases ago, I asked if this was the one where Santa dies.

Sure enough, Tim has to be the new Santa because the old Santa died.

    What. The. Fuck

Bernie's back...and he's the best actor in the miserable movie...even though he's still dead.

Watched the series a few years ago, so I can't speak to the exact scene.. but typically the joke in that sort of situation was that David Brent thought something like an inflatable penis was hilarious, quite oblivious to how cringe-worthy and inappropriate it is.

Most of the humor from "The Office" came from Brent doing things that he thought made him look clever on-camera, not realizing he came across as a blithering ass.

I thought "Dusk 'til Dawn" was complete rubbish. I wondered why such quality actors would subject themselves to that crap.
Then Salma Hayek showed up ...
    Never mind.
