Newbie, not sure where you got the idea I abhor Whitlock -- from your rich posting history, perhaps? -- but it has always been false. Mr. Whitlock was not a fan of mine, but one of the great SJ ironies is we never really had beef. He just insisted I was someone I was not, promoting myself.

As for the second part, I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about. Enjoy your whiny sense of self satisfaction.

 

I'm a longtime lurker, here and at gangrey. Your rich posting history speaks for itself. As does Jones's blog. Narcissism and phoniness are prerequisites to join your club. You have quite the affinity for writers who develop blogs for the sole purpose of crafting narratives about themselves.

 

Impressive then, that it was my egregious writer worship that finally got you off the sidelines and into the game. Perhaps you should list the false Gods that I so blindly bow to so we can debate their merits. Or you could run with this gimmick where you heckle me from the last row of the club. Maybe Chris Lynch will buy you a drink.

Sounds though like SJ and gangrey have missed out on some killer insight. Glad to know I helped you find your voice.

You've perfectly described my thoughts. Awards are fine, but you can't let them determine your self-worth. Writers have a pretty good sense of when they've done really fine work.

A question for jgorden: If you have such incredible disdain for writers talking about being writers, why would you lurk at Gangrey? Or Jones' blog? They exist for a certain audience. Is there something forcing you visit those sites?
