And last year Michigan lost to Minnesota.

Agree with you on the meaningul victories. And I'm not suggesting Boise State should play Ohio State, although the game certainly would be intriguing and probably closer than most of you believe. Nobody thought George Mason had a shot at the Final Four, not because it didn't have good players, but because it was George Mason.

But last year should play no part in this discussion. Boise State is a lot better team this year than in 2005, from the coach on down.

Don't lump me in with the writers seeking a rematch. Sequels, as in movies, are rarely any good. Ohio State and USC would be the right game ... if the Rose Bowl could suddenly turn into the national championship game site.

Ohio State has SO much time to wait, they'll be hungry for whoever has a different color jersey by the time Jan. 8 rolls around.

Their preseason ranking may always make championship aspirations a dream, but if the Boise States of the world are serious about wanting to be taken seriously, they MUST do what USC did this year: Schedule tough out-of-conference foes.

If Boise State had played Arkansas, Nebraska and Notre Dame --- and won --- they would have as much of a claim to be in the title game as anyone.

Rutgers defeating Louisville was a decent feather in its cap ... hardly comparable to Boise's schedule.

that's easier said than done... when the big schools want to play a patsy, they want to make sure the other team will cooperate

it's not enough for them to not ask for a return date, but the big time teams, for the most part, to want to chance a home loss to a team like boise, which is always tough

That also might not work, as there are a lot of people on this board saying those wins won't be enough to get USC into the championship game.

I'm still waiting for the Michigan fucksticks to explain why a #2 team should have to beat the #1 team just once to win a title, yet the #1 team must beat the #2 team twice. Call me dumb - I just can't figure that one out.

Further, to the assclowns who are spewing on USC for dropping a game to the Beavers, I'd say that is probably on par with the Wolverines barely escaping Ball State. ...OK, barely escaping a MAC school is worse. Afterall, why on earth are they even playing a MAC school?

I think that even Florida would beat Michigan by a couple scores. Ark, ND, USC, and Nebraska would probably pound Michigan into the ground at this point in the year. What happened early in the year has no bearing on the outcome. Michigan had their shot and pissed it down their dress.

    Michigan has beaten one?

Turnovers are either a poor reflection on the team making them, or a good reflection on the team forcing them.

    The cannot ... not count.

Notre Dame played Michigan, and got smoked.

What makes you think ND would beat the Wolverines if both schools played now? ND has been fairly unimpressive all season for a so-called National Title Contender.

In 1996 UF lost to FSU by 3 . . . and then five weeks later beat them 52-20 for the national title.

Same teams. Two completely different results.

Give the losing team a second chance, a reprieve from the gallows, a chance to correct its mistakes, and it usually performs much better. LSU lost to Tennessee in 2001 . . . then beat them in the SEC Championship Game two months later. Happens ALL the time. Rematches work against the team that won the first game.

That's why they must be avoided at all costs.

I understand you hate USC, but it is so amusing to me how you think the only team that can beat Ohio State is Michigan. The fact is the Wolverines and the Trojans both have one loss, beyond that, the Trojans have played a much, much better schedule.
Also, if you are going to say schedules don't matter because Michigan's loss was to No. 1, then your argument should also include that Boise State should be in the national title game, because if schedules don't matter (which is what Michigan fans are arguing at the root) then the Broncos are unbeaten and the Wolverines are not.

    So:
No. 1 Ohio State vs. Boise State.
